2012 was good for me on other fronts, but definitely not the LJ writing/posting front. I'm sorry I've been so MIA around here. Consequently, posting more often is marked 'High Priority' on my New Year's Resolutions list. I know my story updates were pretty pathetic in 2012, but fingers crossed, they will improve this year. (Not much further they could fall, sadly, so it has to be trending up, right?)

Anyways... yes I am still working on my WIPs. I am optimistically hoping to update Spliced before the end of this month, now that the craziness of the holidays is over. We'll see how that goes; it's a long chapter. I'll give another status report later if things start looking grim there, but I'm hoping that won't be necessary. 

I've had some readers ask me about new Spliced, and I thank you all for your patience. I really do appreciate it.

Same to you! Crazy to think the first month of 2013 is nearly over already.

Aww, thank you. I'd love daily updates of the Spliced boys myself, but they don't always feel like talking to me! (Too busy doing each other, I suspect.)

I was the same way for a long time, keeping my ideas in my head and not writing them down, but I'm so glad I did, and that I took the further leap of posting the story on LJ. It's been such a rewarding experience, hearing directly from readers and making wonderful friends in the process. :-)

Despite your equally optimistic hope of a January update (the same that I had), I must admit it's not looking good at the moment. I do plan to go over the chapter more today though, and we'll see how far my beta and I get with it. We've already done a good amount of work on it. It shouldn't be too much longer, fingers crossed.

Thanks for the icon! That's great. :-) It's so nice to see you love the story enough to take the time to make an icon for it. That's never happened to me before. And now you're giving me ideas! I feel like I need some Spliced icons, particularly character specific ones with a fitting quote or something. I think it would be fun. :D

I actually wrote a story down once and posted it and I loved getting feedback but not enough to write more- it's not my art. I hate rewritting but am a perfectionist and nobody can write a perfect story without editing.

Not ready in time? You are so lucky missy that I'll move from Austria to England on tuesday and am rather preoccupied.

I remember back when I wrote my story a girl actually drew two pictures of my main characters. Like a full on colour drawing not some doodling and it was such a suprise to realize that there are people that care as much about my story as I do. And I remember thinking 'she draws better than I write'.

Anyhow I wanted to say: I care as much about your story as you do. Only you lucky bastard already know what's going to happen while I am dying here! Then again I have the pleasure of reading it.

Btw. I'd love to make some icons myself! That was the original idea but then I figured picking character models would be quite presumptuous and you might not like that too much.

Oh I totally hear you. The initial writing part is where most of the fun is! The editing takes so long it seems, and it does get incredibly frustrating when you realize you need to totally re-write a scene or chapter, etc. Makes me want to tear my hair out sometimes, frankly, especially when you are on version 23497234 of a chapter, it seems like. (Don't get me started on how many times I've rewritten the beginning of the next chapter. It's ugly.)

Okay then, at least you'll be too busy to be counting the days or anything! Yeah, I was really hoping to get it done this month, but it's not to be sadly.

That's awesome that someone drew pics of your characters! What a compliment. :-)

That's the power of being The Creator. The boys should quiver in terror at the sight of me. I can make anything happen to them! >:D

But yes, you do get the pleasure of reading it and not knowing what will happen. I love plot twists myself, and good storytelling. There's just something special about a well-written story. So I strive to keep readers either surprised or invested; hopefully I succeed for the most part.

Yeah, character models are tricky! I feel like I haven't seen anyone that exactly fits the pictures in my head, sadly. Not that I'm saying it's a lost cause, cause you never know. And there are also more abstract icons that can be made too, not just ones with a character model. I'll need to give it some thought myself.

If I'd forget Spliced now and start reading it tomorrow I'd still be done reading before you update - cause stories like Spliced I read FAAAST!

I actually know exactly how I picture them both. Haha, quite sure you wouldn't agree with me though.

Well in that scene they were in the guys apartment - so he had his books.

Also don't hit my unique choices in picturing them. But when I read that Min was lean but not small, had long soft black hair, was lean and had a androgynous face except with a certain strenght of character I was reminded of my teenage crush Bill Kaulitz. Being the obsessed teenager that I was I know that he can look both so strong and almost scary and at other moments totally small and hugable. And Alex and Min scream for someone who has both vunerability and strength.

Matt I never truely pictured but recently I started seeing him like Darcy from the Lizzie Bennet Diaries (Pride and Prejudice in Vlog). It doesn't have anything to do with how he's described it's like totally a feeling.

I don't remember that scene that well but then yes, lucky the guy with all his books waiting to be rediscovered.

That's the beauty of writing , one can imagine whatever the hell one wants :)And no matter the descriptions, you always see someone that appeals to you and so does everybody else and boy, does it vary!

But back to your own choices, sooo not how I see them, so very very not :D
I see you took Min way more androgynous than I did or my version of androgynous was still more manly than boyish. Depending on the picture and stylization model Andrei Andrei fits my Min image.
At some point he had nice long hair and even chains as a bonus gasp! Although I cannot seem to find some the ones I have in mind that fit very well (the kinky ones (damn those are SO fitting but nowhere to be found or with longer straight hair)

Very true - that is the beauty of a story - it's a different story for everyone that reads it and it seems the main characters are as well. ;)

Though I do admit this Min doesn't look too shabby ;)

Yeah, I'm with Castle. Sometimes I really wish I could enjoy smth for the first time again. It's just never quite the same with that element of surprise gone, even if you can get different stuff out of it, like noticing things you didn't before.

And yes, I believe you, that you'd finish before there was another update. As long as it is, somehow it's still way faster to read something than it is to write it. Sigh.

Hey! No tearing hair out! And I remember the beginning becoming interesting :P
