You're welcome, dear! :D I'm enjoying this reading experience so much, even a bit overwhelmed by it, really. I started off skimming a bit to get a sense of this fic, and when I hit Part 3, I realized I was reading something incredible, so I had to go back and reread to fully appreciate all the effort poured into the making, and that's when I started the sporadic comments. This story is worthy of so much more, but I'm afraid I only have the energy to pepper in a line or two here and there.
I didn't like Alex right off the bat, but I've come to really admire him. He's not completely self-aware and well-adjusted, but apart from splitting his psychological state into two, he's doing remarkably, especially considering his past. In a lot of ways, I think he's better adjusted than, say, Matt (though I'm not sure that's saying much), and he's more aware of his own problems and his own psyche than actual people I deal with on a daily basis. What amazes me sometimes is how active he is, how he won't ignore a problem or flee from a fear, how he continually believes he can overcome and then takes steps to prove it to himself.
Oh, come on, Ten must be one of the best loved characters, surely? He's wise and caring and unbelievably generous, and he likes to tell stories, likes to observe people, likes to mess with expectations and misrepresent himself. He puts up a playful facade for others, lifts their spirits however he can, but is incapable of accepting any help in return. He's a writer-actor-counselor-psychologist ex-slave who chooses to live alone in the countryside. He's fascinating and adorable and brilliant, and I want to know everything there is to know about him. :P
