This was a really interesting look at how things could have been different, and yet their relationship is still essentially the same--regardless of whether Matt clings to the ideal of slave!Min and has trouble dealing with him as an equal or if Matt sees him as an equal and remains ignorant of his slave background, there is little hope for them developing a healthy relationship until they (both) learn to reconcile the two.
Have you considered doing another AU? I would love to see how things would have fallen out if the two had met back when Min was still a spy/assassin following the orders of his creators/masters. It would simultaneously reinforce Matt's ideas about slavery (in seeing Min acting like any other Andorian in the beginning) and also expose the wrongs of the slavery system (because it wouldn't be a rebellious slave being moderately aggressive but ultimately causing no harm; it would be the existing slavery system being exploited in such a way that a slave might kill/torture/steal/spy while being perfectly obedient to his masters). Plus, Min would probably have been even more suspicious of and reluctant to trust.
