Okay, I know I'm horrible late. But I'm finally back from my second visit of the hospital (I hope there won't be any other for quite a long time) and I'm here with my favorite lines of this marvelous update. :)
Two nights later, Alex watched another man flirt with Matt. Just reading this I was like – OMG this chapter is not going to be easy for Alex.
No, instead he was young—about Matt’s age—and charismatic, with a boyish face that was universally appealing. Matt certainly can't seem to stop looking at it, Alex thought sourly. "Young, charismatic, with a boyish face" – poor Alex! :D *hugs him*
Of course Garthen had noticed him with Matt, but then immediately dismissed him. That alone was enough to irritate Alex; no matter how many times it happened, he always hated it when people didn’t look past the collar. I don’t blame him at all.
“Sadly I wasn't able to make it,” Matt said, his regret too sincere for Alex's taste. “But I'm here now.” I confess, I would like to know Matt’s thoughts of this situation. Was he aware how jealous Alex was seeing them two flirting together? (He was, IMO.)And what was his thoughts about it?
Or maybe there is, he mused. WOW, an idea. My boy never gives up (I love that! :)).
If he showed half as much interest in anyone else, Matt would drag him away within a minute at most, an endless interrogation following it. Yet he expected Alex to watch and do nothing? Hypocrisy. I couldn’t help but smile. :)
Muldane hadn’t forgotten about him—not that Alex had expected him to. Months together hadn’t diminished the man’s obsession with him at all. Oh yes, Matt's obsession with Alex. :D
Bastard. Knows it's pissing me off, yet he's still doing it. Yes - Bastard! I totally agree with Alex. (Of course. :D)
“He’s mine.” Matt’s growl came out of nowhere, rising above the noise of the party. “Get your fucking hands off him.” That was fast (thank God!).
Getting another clear look at Matt’s face, glaring at the disappearing drunk, Alex decided Lofton wasn’t being overly cautious. Matt really did look mad enough to rip his balls off. Nice. :)
Then that rage was turned on him, and Alex’s gut tightened. I didn’t think this all the way through, did I, he realized belatedly. O-ow!
“I saw you,” Matt whispered furiously in his ear, “you went out of your way to walk over here.” He saw him. Well, I quite liked this. :)
And while Matt had been more considerate lately—well, in general, not tonight with the flirting in front of his face and all—it still wasn't the progress Alex truly wanted, and the compromises he was making in the meantime were wearing down on him as much as the pretense. I understand.
“You’re making a scene,” he told the man softly, knowing it would prevent any retribution—at least for the moment. That was clever.
But he kept the blank mask firmly in place—Alex knew just how to annoy the asshole in return. I have no doubt about this. :)
Matt didn’t miss the ‘fuck you’ tone. “We’re leaving,” he growled. Alex won! :D I would like to see what happened after they had returned home, though.
I enjoyed this chapter a lot! You did an amazing job with it again! I loved the way you described Alex's thoughts and feelings - not only about Matt's flirting but how more and more difficult it is for him to act as a proper slave.
