No worries about the misplacement. And no, I don't plan to sideline Spliced to finish this other story. I'll keep working on it too.
Oh no, I find Spliced too complicated to write on the fly. Over time I've learned I'm much better off (and more likely to finish a story) if I have an outline of some sorts or at least general ideas of the plot and where it's going. I have the rest of Part 5 outlined, but after that I don't have it outlined in a chapter framework, I just have various notes and plenty of other thoughts I should jot down sometime. (Part 6 should be the last, finally.)
I had to look up what a 'mud map' was. It sounded like an Aussie thing! No, I'm a bit more organized than that at least!
Lol, you don't normally hear the adjective 'delightful' applied to rain and heavy wind. But considering the size of your average 'rivers' I suppose rain is a good thing. :-)
