Isn't Matt though? You'd think that particular memory would stick in his mind. I suppose there is the societal reality of their positions each day to help reinforce that superiority in Matt though. Yeah, Alex is by no means perfect and sometimes makes things worse, but him being frustrated and lashing out at times doesn't seem so inconceivable really. It is a precarious situation they're in.
Well, I think compared to the Matt seen in Part 1 or Part 3, he IS very different. His concern for Alex/Min is obvious, and his expectations regarding Alex's conduct have greatly changed. Yet I feel immense personal change is an organic thing, happening unevenly. He can grow in some areas, and not stretch in others as quickly. For example, he can tread carefully with Alex one day, even apologize to him, then get angry and bossy another day (like he does in this chapter) and still not see that Sadie's attitude about clones is bad even as he has issues with the clone breeders here at dinner. It's messy, not a clean leap, but people are messy like that.
At least that's my approach here. ;-) And well, Sadie is supposed to be annoying!
Lol, kind of fun. I think you're as frustrated with Matt as Alex!
I've been working on Spliced during my LJ hiatus. Should get an update posted sometime soon. Thanks again for commenting, and sorry I took so long to reply.
