NaNoWriMo

So I'm finally giving NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month for the uninitiated) a try this year. Since the premise is you have to write 50K words during the month of November... needless to say I won't be updating Spliced or Scotch during November (unless it was a chapter I had already written this month). I'm gonna try to finish Part 3 of Spliced this month if I can, we'll see though.

As for my NaNoWriMo story, the first line is:

The body on my doorstep changed everything.

It's different from the stories I've posted on here. First off b/c it's written in first person, but it's also a fantasy story. So we'll see how it goes! I shall probably fail spectacularly, but I'll give it a go. ;-)

I'm listed on there as nevrasama. I got my brother to check out NaNo too, and he's all excited for it. But that also means I don't want to do anything too ahem... smutty. Hehe. You know, in case he wants to see what I did. XD

He's gonna write this turn of the century steampunk story. I'm actually really curious to read it hehe. From what he described, it sounded interesting.

But yes, I'm sure we'll all be in touch as we collectively will want to bang our heads against the wall (or shoot ourselves) during the month of November lol. XD

November! Well, if I don't think it's too terrible to post on LJ. We'll see. It's going to be a very rough first draft... XD

I do think that first line could be an entry in one of those "write a novel in X words" things... I wouldn't make 6, but I would be within 8! Hehe.

We'll see if I live up to it. XD I'm pretty nervous about this one, I think it'll come out bad, especially at this breakneck pace, but we'll see. Either way it's fun to try.

Lol, of the whole story, the first sentence is the part I like the most. I don't have a high opinion of most of the story, but oh well. A lot of it I wrote in a rush and so I have a lot of corrections to make before I find it post-worthy.

My writing process for this was totally different from my other stuff. Unlike let's say Spliced that I write very naturally or organically, when I'm inspired, because this NaNo story was under a strict time deadline, a lot of times I was forcing myself to write the scenes. Consequently it came out awkward or forced, because for the first half of the novel, I didn't really like the story, but I had already committed to it and couldn't go back. So I was stuck and my muse was rebelling against writing it. So it didn't make for nice quality lol.

At least how it is currently, there is zero sex in this story. XD Weird, right? Lol. Not to say there is zero romance, but definitely no sex. Ah well. I suppose that could change if I went back through it... but it still wouldn't be really smutty lol. XD
