So, I've got a laptop and a loose framework of plot. It's November, and it's NaNoWriMo time again!

But besides announcing that I am beginning Year 4 of National Novel Writing Month, I also wanted to say that while my posting has been less frequent this year, my writing has not. I'm still committed, and continuing my stories, both those WIPs on my LJ and other projects. I may have just um, neglected the editing portion of the writing, something required before posting. What can I say?

I shall try to be better on that front (once NaNo craziness has died down).

Anyways, to sum it up, see the entry title above! ;-)

I've never understood why authors insist on writing new stories for NaNo. If you have any WIP, why not use November to focus and finish them? I'm sure I'll end up reading whatever you post anyway, but I must admit that I'm more than a bit distressed...

It's not that the thought hasn't occurred to me, to use NaNo to finish a WIP. However, once you experience the crazy pace of NaNo it becomes very clear that if you want your story to have a first draft that is actually *good* and not an incredible amount of work to edit, you best not be writing it during NaNo!

Instead I like to use NaNo for side projects that I don't work on the rest of the year, because I'm too busy writing other things, like my LJ WIPs.

To attempt to write Spliced during NaNo, for example, I would find laughable. I just feel the complexity of it would be too much, and I like to take Spliced at a more sedate pace (what can I say, the boys are argumentative and fickle). There are at least a few chapters on here that I've rewritten a few times before posting. Nano wouldn't allow me to do that.

I hope that explanation sheds some light. I can only speak for myself of course, not other authors.

Lol, yeah, writing, especially Spliced during nano, is laughable, that's exactly what I thought even before I got to the part where you actually wrote it :)That would so not work out. I can already imagine Matt's reaction 'WTF are you doing! I demand proper attention! Those slaves and writers, what is wrong with them today!'
